Dear Friends:
If you have ever had the opportunity to watch the show called "Project Runway," then you may have seen one of the recent episodes that asked the designers to visit a museum and find inspiration from a favorite painting. The results of their efforts were quite exciting - their translation of theme and/or style expanded the visual into the tangible. I was quite taken with the beauty of their finished garments and began to think more about our ability to be inspired.
As a young girl, not quite 14, I can remember travelling into New York City to spend a Saturday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With pad and pencil in hand, I would sit in front of the Roman and Greek scupltures trying to record the folds of draping fabric. Other visits I was mesmerized by the white millstone ruff - a round collar made of pleated white linen. It was fashionable in Holland from the late 16th century to about 1625 and often seen in portraits by Rembrandt.
I started sewing at thirteen and by sixteen I was copying designs of mini dresses I saw on Madison Avenue. I was proud of my ten dollar dress especially when they were selling for $150! Becoming inspired is not as difficult as getting out of the hole we sometimes find ourselves in.
I suppose it has to do with seeing. Looking at things with different eyes. Thowing away previous opinions and going beyond our own imagination. Life then becomes a candy store. Every day a new adventure and an opportunity to grow in awareness, in appreciation, in awe, in love. That we may be more at the end of our days than when we were born....now that is inspiring.
And so now a new beginning...a new spring...filled with budding branches and possiblities. I'm off to Fairchild Tropical Gardens to research Palms of the Dominican Republic. Am I inspired....well Botera will be there....challenging me to be more than when I began.
And then to New York City in June to teach and be taught by the paintings of the Met. Inspiration is around every corner, in every face, in every heart. Where are you finding yours?
Happy Spring....God Bless....OM

We, both your inner being and your greater being,
are right here, right now, guiding you.
We are here when you whisper, when you question,
when you muse, when you ask…
even when you demand.
We are always here.
To hear us there must be moments of quiet,
to feel us there must be moments of stillness,
Our guidance and synchronicities are missed
when entangled in busyness, worries or
jumbles of “to do’s”,
They are found in the peaceful times
when mind is momentarily diverted
from the tasks it has set for itself.
Yes, “be the bowl”, open and expecting to receive.
Also “be the reflecting pool” so centered in peace
that you receive the guidance we offer -
the sign, symbols, invitations and synchronicities…
the comforting embracing that reminds you
you are love and loved always.

***************
A simple way to shift thoughts, feelings and vibrations to attract a new reality into your life is to change a word. A few examples, try changing for a week discipline to disciple of, responsible to respond-able or yesterday’s invitation to change “I want” to “I’m ready to receive”. it’s amazing how something so small can create such a large shift, especially over time.
A few weeks ago I realize I was hearing thoughts as if each word was a musical note. The words strung together were making songs and symphonies. If a word was discordant with my inner being I felt it in the same way I would a note being off in a song.
This isn’t saying that the same word would affect each person the same way. We all have different historical references for our words. Take the word “love” for instance. That one word has a full spectrum of feelings, stories, definitions and assumptions attached to it. But if we slow down and center into our feelings, we can sense how a word affects us.
Being conscious, intentional communicators could be thought of as making music that is resonant with your inner being or your heart and trusting that this inner resonance is just right in the world.
